Washing and maintenance instructions for PVC and PVC/PU coated fabrics

Regular washing and maintenance extend the lifespan of PVC- and PVC/PU coated fabrics. A dirty fabric is also more prone to wear caused by UV radiation, so regular cleaning of dust and dirt helps preserve the material in good condition for longer period. With proper care, the service life of the fabric can be up to twenty years. Below are instructions for washing and maintaining our coated fabrics.

What washing agent should you use to clean PVC- and PVC/PU-coated fabrics?

Use neutral or slightly alkaline all-purpose cleaner. Cleaners which contain solvents are not recommended to use. If more effective cleaning is required, you may use max. 30 % Hydrogen peroxide or saturated Chlorine water. Use washing agent according to the instructions of the manufacturer.

What temperature should be used for washing coated fabrics?

The maximum washing temperature is +40°Celcius. Avoid powerful mechanical rubbing.

Can PVC- and PVC/PU-coated fabrics be cleaned with a pressure washer?

The use of a pressure washer is not recommended, but if required to use, the cleaning should be done carefully and the washing result or possible material damage should be monitored. When using a pressure washer, the safety instructions provided by the manufacturer must be followed. After washing, rinse the fabric well with pure water.

Make sure the coated fabric is completely dry before storage

Dry the coated fabric thoroughly before packing and storing it. Fabric that remains damp can promote the growth of mold and other contaminants and may cause unpleasant odors. Dry the fabric unfolded in a well-ventilated area to allow moisture to evaporate evenly, including from folds and seams. Make sure the fabric is completely dry before folding and storing it for an extended period.

Repairing damage

You can repair damaged technical fabric with PVC glue and a piece of tarpaulin.
